a Letter from a wife to her lover

Dearest,
You make me smile, not because you are funny but because it's you. Seeing you brings a smile to my face and I can forget how unhappy I am in my marriage. It is a sin for me to constantly crave you when I am with my husband but he cares not for me and neither do I care for him. I love you and only you and I know it is hard for you to have to watch us from afar and wish that you were him instead, but for my sake and for the sake of our love, won't you abide a while. When the time is right, I promise you I will leave him and be yours and only yours for all eternity.
I count the endless hours day after day until I can see you again and be in your arms. You are the sun that fills my days and warms my nights. Even as I perform the duties of a wife, I have you and only you in my heart and mind and that is what keeps me going and that is what sustains me in those dark hours when I am far away from you and in the arms of another.
Dearest, please do not worry for me. I suffer these moments in silence because that is the only way I can behave that would ensure me of an easy departure. Look not upon the bruises on my arms or the tears in my eyes. Instead, look at how my face lights up when you are near and be patient. Let not your impulsive thoughts lead to rash actions. We are so close now to being together, tarry but a moment longer and we may pledge our love to each other openly at last.
